Bot to Life!

Prompt:

In this activity, you will reflect on previous techniques you've learned to create a Deep Sea Bot.

Instructions:

Step 1: Make your Deep Sea Bot Move!

  • You have p made a cardboard mechanism... can you guess what the next step is? Yes! Bring your bot to life by incorporating your cardboard mechanism.
  • Ensure that the structure does not exactly resemble your chosen deep-sea creature. For example, if your deep sea bot is inspired by a sea plankton, don't create a plankton, but rather, recreate its movement.

Step 2: Reflect on your design:

With your partner, revisit these questions:

  1. What is the purpose of your robot? What is its main task?
  2. How does it move?
  3. What are the different components and parts (if any)?

Deliverables:

In the responses tab above, create a post with the following:

  • 3  photographs of your prototype
  • 1 Gif of your project in motion.
  • 1-2 sentences about your concept and how your prototype achieves this.

Materials:

Computer, pencil/pen, paper, low-fidelity materials (card stock, brads, paperclips, string, hot glue, etc.)
