Description
Just like the introductory activity, we will build our first prototypes as full-scale mock-ups to be worn and tested on our bodies. This is an opportunity to test out design shapes, sizes, and techniques of making.
Instructions
1: Sketching
Begin with Sketches:
- Sketch the pieces needed to construct your device.
- Follow the tutorial in the 'Sketching Resources' tab first for guidance.
- Draw different shapes and iterations to explore various design options.
- Add labels and color to better illustrate your ideas.
Step 2: Prototyping
- Assemble the materials needed for your mock-ups, focusing on paper and cardboard.
- Start with a safety orientation on how to prototype. Follow the safety guide in the 'safety resources' tab.
- Create quick mock-ups of your device using paper and cardboard.
- Ensure that these mock-ups can be attached to your body for testing.
- Wear your mock-up and test its fit and functionality.
- Discuss with your partner what you think of the design.
- Identify areas for improvement and gather feedback.
Step 3: Documentation
- Photograph your sketches and cardboard prototypes.
- Assemble these photos in a blog post to document your first creations in the development of your concept.
